The Beginning
Rocky Coulee Brewing Co. was founded in 2001 and opened for business in June of 2002 by Tom Schafer. After 30+ years of farming, Tom was ready for a new challenge. He had always enjoyed beer, but had never brewed it but decided to open a brewery anyway. Originally planned for construction at the family farm in Adams county just southwest of Odessa, the Brewery was named after Rocky Coulee which lies just to the south of the farm. After encountering problems with the State and local organizations due to water regulations he decided to purchase property in Odessa. Construction began in autumn of 2001 and the brewery opened its doors on June 1, 2002. In its first 10 years the brewery has outgrown its original building and has added an addition to the original building and an additional storage building on the property as well. The brewery doesn’t have a pub, but does welcome visitors on Friday's to our tasting room for great beer and good company!
Ok, so when can I visit?
We love having visitors at the brewery. We are always open on Fridays from 5:00 pm until at least 9:00pm. Make sure to visit us during Deutschesfest, when we have a large tent with live music and beer garden. We run expanded hours during Deutschesfest weekend and look forward to seeing you Friday and Saturday. (September 19th-20th 2014)
